KleuterAkademie, founded by the visionary Juanita van der Walt, recognized the pressing need for exceptional kindergartens in the area. Motivated by her passion for education, she embarked on a journey to establish a nurturing and enriching environment for her two sons.
In 2010, within the cozy confines of Juanita’s braai room, Sonstraal KleuterAkademie emerged, initially accommodating a humble group of six children and two teachers for half-day sessions during school terms. However, as word spread of the school’s unique curriculum and engaging activities, demand soared. Over the next 5 years Juanita opened 4 more academies throughout the Durbanville and surrounding area.
From the outset, Juanita’s commitment to holistic education went beyond the classroom walls. Concerts, organized by her, served as grand showcases of the children’s talents and growth. Starting small at the Durbanville Rugby Club, these events have evolved into extravagant productions, featuring mesmerizing music, dazzling lights, and breathtaking decor. The packed halls now host three separate concerts, a testament to the schools’ tremendous growth.
Though Juanita’s untimely passing was a great loss, her legacy lives on through the unwavering dedication of her husband, Waldo van der Walt, who now leads the four Kindergarten Academies. Building upon Juanita’s foundations, they combine various educational principles
to equip children with essential life skills, ensuring their readiness for school. Learning through experience is at the heart of their approach, as children play, learn, and grow in a nurturing environment filled with love, encouragement, and boundless fun.
