October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Linda Nunes in support of Pam Golding’s Heart of Gold, we believe there’s no better time to have an important conversation about our breasts, our health and looking out for one another.`
Because while we may joke about boobies, there is nothing funny about breast cancer. What is worth celebrating is the power of awareness, early detection and a community that shows up.
Throughout October 2026, Eagle Canyon Golf Estate is partnering with PinkDrive to bring breast and health screening closer to home, while rallying residents around three initiatives designed to inform, encourage and make a tangible difference.
Then, let’s brunch about it.
On Saturday, 3 October, Linda will host Eagle Canyon's much-loved Boobie Brunch at Eagle One at the Clubhouse.
This year's theme? Carnival.
Expect a colourful day of community, conversation and plenty of fun. All while supporting an incredibly important cause.
It’s a reminder that talking about breast health doesn't have to be intimidating. Sometimes the conversations that feel a little awkward are exactly the ones we need to have.
So bring your appetite, bring your friends and, most importantly, bring your willingness to get involved.
Check your assets.
On Monday, 5 October, PinkDrive will be at the Eagle Canyon Clubhouse parking lot from 09:00 to 17:00, making vital screening services accessible to residents.
Mammograms will be available for women aged 40 and over at R1,000, while clinical breast examinations will be offered free of charge to all women.
There will also be additional health screening available, including Pap smears at R600 and PSA testing at R100, a simple finger-prick blood test with an immediate result.
And if you've had your screening recently or your medical aid has you covered, consider using this opportunity to help someone else get checked. Residents are encouraged to make a donation of any amount or consider booking a screening for their domestic helpers and gardeners.
Because awareness means very little if access is out of reach.
Give your old bras a new purpose.
From 1 to 31 October, the Eagle Canyon gates will also become collection points for Boobie Bins.
The mission this year is ambitious: 3,000 bras.
So, ladies, it’s time to go through that drawer.
The bra you haven't worn in years?
The one that has somehow survived three wardrobe clear-outs?
The one that technically fits but has absolutely no business still being there?
It may be time to let it go.
Gather your unwanted bras and pop them into the Boobie Bins at the estate gates throughout October. What may be clutter to you can become part of something meaningful.
Awareness is more than a colour.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is often associated with pink ribbons, but awareness is about much more than wearing pink.
It is knowing your body.
It is making time for screening.
It is encouraging the women in your life to do the same.
It is helping someone who may not otherwise have access to screening.
And it is remembering that looking after ourselves is not something we should postpone until October.
This month, Eagle Canyon is turning awareness into action, with screening, conversation, fundraising and community participation all working together to support a cause that touches countless families.
So let's talk boobies. Let's get checked. Let's clear out those bra drawers. Let's brunch, laugh, learn and show up for one another.
