Poelela Fisheries is a designated Aqua Farm, they have been rearing and processing Tilapia since 2016 on a purpose-built site in Inhambane Province with water rights to 15HA of the lake at Poelala.

Production has recently stopped, but at its peak, they produced 250,000 fingerlings monthly.

There is a hatchery, a nursery, and raceways to rear the fingerlings, all are covered with plastic sheeting so production can continue year-round.

The on-site abattoir has been approved for export and has a capacity of 4 tonnes per day.
