The listing by Pam Golding Properties of a uniquely restored Herbert Baker home in Paardevlei, provides a rare opportunity to own a piece of Cape history in one of Somerset West’s popular suburbs.

Cecil John Rhodes bought the land to house an explosives factory and he chose this site, along the coastline, because it was viewed as a strategically safe location. In the 1960s, the AECI factory between Somerset West and the beach was the second largest dynamite factory in the world. Now, it has become a bustling hub of commercial and residential activity as the mixed-use suburb of Paardevlei.
