At Pam Golding Properties, we have a philosophy that the way we live our lives has an impact on those around us. This is one of the reasons why we are deeply committed to making a positive impact on our environment and the communities we serve.
We are partnering with various sustainable initiatives, and therefor collecting the following recyclables:
- Plastic bread bags or plastic shopping bags
- Plastic bread tags
- Plastic bottle tops
- Remnants of white candle wax
- Eco-bricks (Plastic 2 litre bottles filled with non-recyclable waste)

BAGS4BREAD
Bags4bread is a socio-economic development project, launched by Visit Stellenbosch. The initiative helps the local women of Kayamandi to put bread on the table, whilst keeping plastic waste out of our oceans and rivers. These ladies use their crochet skills to “upcycle” plastic bags into sustainable products.
3 bread bags = 1 lanyard
7 bread bags = 1 water bottle bag
12 bread bags = 1 wine bag
VLAMVATTERS
This innovative project supports the residents of Huis Horison; a centre in Stellenbosch that provides holistic care for people with a primary intellectual disability. By melting the leftover wax from used candles and dipping recycled newspaper therein, eco-friendly firelighters are created. These products are then sold to support community members with special needs.
TOPS & TAGS
The Sweethearts Foundation provides wheelchairs to those in need through their ‘Tops & Tags’ initiative, whereby plastic bottle tops & bread tags are recycled in exchange for funds. Generous donations maximise their impact and allows vulnerable members of our community to receive wheelchairs that are built to their specific needs.
Did you know that one bread-bag tag, is worth R5?
This means that for one 18” wheelchair, 50kg of bread tags, or 450kg of plastic bottle tops are needed.
ECO-BRICKS
These environmentally-friendly building blocks provide a low-cost way of transforming plastic into a sustainable product for the construction of “green” buildings. Eco-bricks are made from 2 litre plastic bottles filled with non-recyclable plastic waste, compacted to a weight of around 500g.
Together with a helping hand from the public, our donations helped to construct the green environmental centre at the Helderberg Nature Reserve and more recently, a brand-new primary school classroom at Mondeor Eco School in Somerset West.
