Noble Resorts is an independent property development company providing a renewed and relevant residential offering for those close to – or already in – retirement. Their aim is to create South Africa’s best retirement resorts – environments that create social connectivity, homeliness and a sense of community for the over 50s.

The luxury, later living resort is being built on the site of the old Marine Oil Refiners of Africa Ltd factory at the foot of Dido Valley, near Simon’s Town on the False Bay coast. Before construction could take place, the previously derelict factory site underwent extensive environmental rehabilitation to ensure the safety of all residents and staff at the complex and foster environmental sustainability.

Samantha Nel and Shelly Keys, Pam Golding Properties Western Cape area managers, say that construction of Phase 1, The Mariner, has been completed, consisting of 70sqm ground floor designer studios and one-bedroom apartments. “Many residents have already taken occupation of their luxury units, and a temporary 24-hour clinic and a concierge are in place.

Says Nel: “Construction of Phase 1B, The Admiral, is set for completion by the end of 2023. This will consist of studio, one and two-bedroom apartments priced from R1.795 million to R3.295 million, while the restaurant, library lounge, concierge and care precinct will also be built in this phase.”

Nel adds that the estimated completion date for Phase 2A, The Sails – is the end of 2024. “This phase comprises spacious townhouses with two bedrooms and two or 2.5 bathrooms, with designer kitchens equipped with Bosch appliances. The open-plan living spaces will have high-end finishes and entertainment patios or balconies with built-in gas braais. Prices range from R3.995 million to R4.45 million.

“The Decks is due for completion in the second quarter of 2024. This phase will consist of three-bedroom townhouses, penthouses and luxury villas. Prices range from R4.85 million for the townhouses to R13.5 million for the villas.”

An exclusive spa and indoor pool are due to be completed by the end of 2025.

While Noble Resorts Harbour Bay is designed for people aged 50 and over, Keys says many younger buyers are keen to invest in the development as there is strong demand for rentals in retirement villages around the country.

Says Keys: “Furthermore, Simon’s Town is a highly appealing location, with a laid-back, village way of life and access to all the town’s popular tourist attractions, including the penguin colony at Boulders, boat-based whale-watching trips, and any number of walks along the sandy coves and surrounding hillside.

“It’s an eclectic mix – the town’s cobbled lanes are home to a number of fine Victorian buildings, antique shops and a thriving arts and crafts community, coffee bars and restaurants, while the local Country Club offers a range of sporting activities including golf, squash and bowls. Simon’s Town also lies in close proximity to the Cape Point Nature Reserve with its spectacular hiking trails, while major medical facilities are available within a 15-minute drive.”

Harbour Bay later living resort is the latest in a suite of similar successful developments by Noble Resorts, which has as its vision the creation of multi-generational and care real estate where style, culture and luxury meet. The architectural designs reflect and complement each distinct setting, with facilities and amenities that underpin community living.

Led by Harry Pretorius, the Noble Resorts professional team collectively has more than 100 years’ experience in the building and property development industry. Its proven expertise from project concept to operation enables the team to take developments through the entire process from feasibility to design, engineering and earthworks, infrastructure, consents, and from construction to completion including interior fit-out – and finally, resort-operational management.

Thoughtfully designed and meticulously presented, their generous homes and apartments are considerately placed in the finest locations in the Western Cape of South Africa and The Netherlands.

Other later living projects by Noble Resorts include: Allesverloren Village with 255 homes nestled on a gentle rise neighbouring the world-famous Allesverloren Wine Estate in the Riebeek Valley, conveniently close to Cape Town; and in the Netherlands, Noble Boutique De Hamert on the banks of the Maas River, surrounded by nature; and Noble Boutique Savarin close to Delft and De Haag.
