“Sometimes it’s better to be kind than to be right.”

I am Alastair Stuart-White, Pam Golding Properties St Francis Bay agent for Cape St Francis.

I was born in England and moved to Cape Town at five years old. Most of my formative years were spent in Hout Bay, boarding school, and Glen Beach. From very early I developed a keen interest in motorsport and surfing…. this led to a very short sojourn at university. My law studies were rapidly overpowered by the way more exciting pastime of moto-cross, made easier by sponsorships from the major Japanese manufacturers.

Post university, I spent a year meddling with industrial chemistry and then moved into the motorcycle industry in a sales capacity. The time came to travel and a year of fun and craziness took me through Europe and to California, where I qualified as a commercial deep-sea diver.

Upon returning to Cape Town, I joined a new building materials company, eventually establishing a stand-alone specialized division with 18 branches nationally. This took up 11 years, and eventually, I sold out and started my own tile business, which I ran for the next seven years until being held up, selling, and moving to Cape St Francis…….the best decision I had yet made.

In the interim my personal life had changed dramatically, having met and married Dot, and been blessed with two children Ashleigh and Doug. The pressures of a young family kept us on our toes and striving to be successful in all facets of our young lives. The weekly cycles of school sports, surfing, and racing the odd enduro made for a full and exciting itinerary.

Within 6 months of our move to Cape St Francis, I had started a wholesale building materials business and was totally immersed in driving it hard, the element of mild desperation being a strict enforcer. Fortunately, it worked, and provided for us for the next 17 years, but did take its toll …. I was diagnosed with an illness and given a couple of years to get my affairs in order. I sold my business and retired to focus on getting better. Secretly I knew only the good die young, so was blessed with a reprieve and am still around six years later.

I have always been intrigued by property, and as soon as possible extended myself to initiate a modest property portfolio…this has incorporated both residential and commercial, and more recently a few self-built homes … at every stage, this interest has fulfilled both a creative and financial goal. I am currently invested in the St Francis Industrial Area, which has proved very attractive, and I believe offers great value for prospective investors.

In 2020 my good friend Richard offered me a position to assist with Pam Golding sales in Cape St Francis, which I gladly took up, and feel very privileged to be part of the incredible Pam Golding Properties family.

Live Remarkable.
