I am James McNaughton

I am Sedgefield
I am the scent of freshly mown hay.
I am the herds of cows ready to be milked.
I am the purple topped mountain peaks.
I am the vast expanse of endless blue sky.
I am the peace and tranquillity of Sedgefield.

I am Sedgefield Agent, James McNaughton

Hello there, I am James McNaughton and I have over 20 years’ experience in marketing farms and smallholdings. It is my mission in life to satisfy all your needs. If you are a seller, I undertake to give you a market related valuation and professional advice regarding the marketing of your property. If you are a buyer, I undertake to find you the right property. Get in touch and let’s discuss how I can help you with your property requirements.

I have always been passionate about land and animals. I was born into a farming family and my upbringing instilled in me an appreciation and great love for all things natural. The values and insight which I gained from 30 years of farming have stood me in good stead during my career in the real estate industry. I qualified as an estate agent in 1993 and specialised in farms and rural properties. I joined Pam Golding Properties in 1995 as a franchisee to open a new office in Graaff-Reinet.

At this time, there was a swing away from traditional farming in certain areas where the environment favoured wildlife. I was very successful in negotiating the sale of over 50,000 ha which was developed into game farms. Sedgefield played a big part in my early life as well, as we had been holidaying here since the 1970’s and always intended to retire here. We built our own house here in 1995, surrounded by Milkwoods and overlooking the lagoon, it became our new home and a base from where to operate.

In 2004 an opportunity arose to open an office in Hoedspruit in order to enter the growing market for wildlife related properties in the Lowveld. We enjoyed a three year spell during which we were successful in establishing a franchise in the area. However, the call of the sea became too loud and we returned to Sedgefield in 2007 when I joined the Pam Golding Properties office as a farm agent.

I bought into the business in 2010 and became a co-franchisee and subsequently in 2013 after attaining the NQF5, I became the sole franchisee after purchasing my partner’s shares. I really enjoy running this business with a small team of successful and dedicated agents and take particular pride in selling farms and smallholdings in the area where we have substantial market share.
