Hello, I am Hayley van der Merwe. I have been working with Pam Golding Properties since 2007.
As a real estate agent in the Paarl area of the Western Cape I am blessed to be working in one of the most beautiful towns in the Boland with its spectacular mountains, vineyards and sunsets. We have numerous top-performing schools, restaurants and exquisite wine farms. Every year Paarl sees an influx of visitors when the annual inter-schools take place between Boys High and Gymnasium, and as a community, we benefit from these visitors.
I was born in the South Coast and have lived in small towns almost all my life. After 20 years working in the corporate world I felt it was time for a career change. I began in the property industry working as an assistant for a Gold Club agent with Pam Golding Properties. The next step was quite obvious – becoming an agent myself. I have achieved 4 years Gold Club status and am fully qualified with my NQF4 certificate.
I worked in Paarl town for seven years before focusing on the surrounding estates in 2015, primarily Val de Vie Lifestyle Estate. Val de Vie is an award winning, top security estate in the country. It is a privilege to represent Pam Golding Properties on the estate, with excellent schools within the vicinity, a host of wonderful sights and activities making the estate an ideal home for all. I believe in the ethos on which Val de Vie Lifestyle Estate is established and all it has to offer.
I pride myself in ensuring a successful and positive outcome for both my buyer and seller. My most recent sale in Val de Vie of a well-positioned plot brought about a challenging, yet positive circumstance. With steady negotiations I was able to please my private buyer, and respect the sentiment my seller had towards their plot. Assuring my seller that he was doing the right thing in letting the plot go, and encouraging my buyer to commit was a challenge which I embraced. My dedication resulted in a successful sale with two happy parties.
I believe in what I do and work hard to understand my client’s needs – it is difficult not to become emotionally involved. We have many new residents moving into our area with many relocating from other provinces. It brings me great pleasure in building trusting relationships with them in order for me to guide them through this crucial decision making process and helping them find their feet in their new location. I am at my happiest when buyers and sellers have had a positive experience as a result of my assistance. Many clients become good friends, and I enjoy catching up with them after hours at school sport days, church, restaurants, and many of the community social events. Knowing I was part of their journey of settling in to the community is the most rewarding part of my day.
