Born and bred a Karoo boy. Schooled at Union high School, Graaff Reinet.
2 Year army stint as officer then attended Stellenbosch University and obtained an honours degree in Agricultural Management, majoring in Agricultural Economics. Worked for 5 years as senior manager at The Ciskei Peoples Development Bank in Bhisho.
Started farming in 1990. In 2010 started another role as Manager of Coastal Hire East London and now also acting as an Estate Agent selling farms in the Nieu-Bethesda area and homes in the village of Nieu Bethesda.
