A Passion for Helping People
Hello! I am Sikelelwa Mangqase, a Candidate Property Practitioner at Pam Golding Properties in Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth). I’ve always wanted to work in a field that would allow me to help people—whether through customer service or making lives easier. My passion for real estate ignited when I assisted my parents with buying their second home in Port Elizabeth. It was such an eye-opening experience! I had no idea how much I would fall in love with the process—the excitement, the decision-making, and, most importantly, the opportunity to help people find their dream homes. It was in that moment that I realised I wanted to pursue a career in property.
My honours research in political science opened my eyes as to how I could apply my knowledge and qualifications to helping people—especially through the government. I want to spend some of my time contributing to housing assistance programmes for communities in need, whether through drafting policies, creating initiatives, or collaborating with other sectors, and working closely with NGOs (Non-profit organisations), another long-held dream of mine.
The journey to get to where I am today has had its challenges, and at first, I wasn’t sure that I had enough knowledge and experience to take on a real estate career. But I overcame those doubts by dedicating myself to learning more about the industry, building my skills, and staying focused on my passion. My moments of uncertainty motivated me to try even harder, and finally, here I am.
Every step of my journey so far has reinforced my belief that life is about helping others. I am excited for what lies ahead and look forward to making a positive impact through both my professional work and my future community involvement.
