Hi, I’m Charmaine Darlew, and I have been part of the Pam Golding Properties family since February 2006. With 20+ years of experience in the property industry, I am a dedicated area specialist in Cape Town’s City Bowl and City Centre, with a particular focus on long-term residential letting and rental management.
I have deliberately built my career around this area rather than trying to cover the entire Cape Town market. Over the years, this has given me an in-depth understanding of the different neighbourhoods, buildings, rental trends and unique characteristics that make up the Mother City.
My area stretches across the many pockets of this vibrant part of Cape Town, including Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht, Gardens, Devil’s Peak, Vredehoek, Highlands Estate, Higgovale, Bo-Kaap, Foreshore, De Waterkant, the V&A Waterfront, the City Centre, Zonnebloem, University Estate and Woodstock. Each pocket has its own personality, tenant profile and rental dynamics, and knowing these differences is an important part of providing sound, informed advice to my clients.
Over the years, I have built my portfolio on trust and loyalty through my experience, market knowledge, and most importantly, relationships. I have achieved GoldClub status every year since 2017 and was honoured to achieve Emerald Circle status in 2024.
I understand that renting out a property is about much more than simply finding a tenant. For landlords, it is about protecting their investment, achieving the best possible return and having someone they can trust to manage the process with care and professionalism. For tenants, it is about finding the right home and having a reliable point of contact throughout their tenancy.
My hands-on approach, attention to detail and extensive experience allow me to provide a professional and personalised service from the initial marketing of a property through to tenant placement and ongoing rental management. I believe in honest communication, practical advice and building relationships that last well beyond a single transaction.
What I love most about my career is that no two days are the same. The rental market is constantly changing, there are always new challenges to navigate, and I continue to enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. After 20 years, I still genuinely enjoy what I do and I believe that experience, consistency and caring about the outcome make a real difference.
Away from property, my favourite place is with my family... my husband, our children and our two much-loved pugs. I’m a self-confessed foodie who enjoys discovering new restaurants, wine farms, as well as family camping trips, watching my kids and husband play their sport, relaxing with a good series and enjoying a braai with family and friends. I also love to travel, although my career keeps me very busy and opportunities to get away are precious. That is why I especially treasure the international incentive trips I have been fortunate enough to enjoy through Pam Golding Properties, wonderful opportunities to see new places, experience different cultures and create memories along the way.
