There are a number of public schools dotted around this area that cater to all ages. Close by in Gardens and Tamboerskloof there are both private and public schools, some of which offer boarding facilities. Students are just a short drive from the University of Cape Town and other tertiary institutions in the City Bowl.
Shopping
For your day to day goods, pop down to any corner store or head to Garden’s Centre for everything from a chemist to groceries and boutique stores. Just along the Main Road is the suburb of Observatory which also offers a host of side street shops to explore.
Medical
You’ll find a few doctors’ practices in University Estate as well as pharmacies or health stores close by in Woodstock. In Observatory, you’ll find the Groote Schuur Hospital, a renowned training ground for South Africa’s best doctors, surgeons and nurses.
Travel
MyCiti buses have recently started operating in the University Estate, Woodstock and Walmer Estate. It runs at frequent 20 minute and 30 minute intervals during peak and off peak time’s respectively. The route starts at the railway station in neighbouring Salt River and passes through District Six, past the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Woodstock, Walmer Estate and University Estate into the Cape Town Central Business District.
