This sub-tropical paradise is situated on a ridge, high above Sheffield Beach (a stone's throw from Ballito), with spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. Brettenwood Coastal Estate combines the security and facilities of a gated residential estate, with the privacy of a conventional exclusive neighbourhood.

Beautiful design, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd-Wright, captures light and views, while taking the sensitive sub-tropical climate into account. Mainlines and cantilevers, large windows and glass walls seemingly integrate the landscape into the building. Natural materials and colours, spacious patios and the creation of private spaces and outdoor rooms create a unique and refined lifestyle.

Environment

Environment

Brettenwood Coastal Estate combines the security and facilities of a gated residential estate, with the privacy of a conventional exclusive neighbourhood, all homes on the estate have surroundings such as glade forest, grassland, water frontage, coastal forest or seaview. Stands are clustered in villages as small as five units and these villages are protected from each other visually by foliage, natural ridges, waterways or planted tree lines. The higher density areas are tucked into three amphitheatres and are set well below the ridge lines. All these areas are again surrounded by coastal forest bands.

Nature

Nature

Take a boat ride to view whales and dolphins or simply relax on the beach. Pick mussels from nearby rock pools or catch fresh crayfish for dinner. Enjoy a round of golf at one of six nearby championship golf courses. Over the years indigenous trees have created a natural canopy of shade over the old tram-line that was used to transport sugar to the mills and runs across the entire estate. This forms the basis of a magnificent 3km walking trail throughout the estate.

Eco-Zones

Eco-Zones

Four distinct eco-zones exist side by side, creating a diverse haven of plant, animal and birdlife. All homes have a planting palette depending on which eco-zone they fall into. Coastal forest, grasslands and wetlands attract a wide variety of birds and small animals. Enjoy the natural beauty from bird hides. A magnificent 3km walking trail throughout the estate meanders through wetland areas, grasslands and both glade and coastal forest areas. In addition there are forest walks and a trail down to the beach.
