Exclusivity, peace of mind and access to amenities in the town centre are just some of the reasons why boutique estates are gaining popularity in areas such as Stellenbosch, says Pam Golding Properties. “In fact, as an emerging property trend that affords buyers many of the benefits of the larger, lifestyle estates, but with competitive levies and a convenient location, homes in these bespoke estates seldom come onto the market,” says Louise Varga, Pam Golding Properties area manager for Stellenbosch, Somerset West and Gordon’s Bay

According to Lightstone property data, 25% of the country’s estates are located in the Western Cape, and many of these are in the Boland and Overberg region. Mont Blanc, Mont Fleur, L’Hermitage, Westruther and Vallee Lustre estates offer high-end buyers secure living in Paradyskloof, which boasts convenient shopping, a choice of several restaurants and many of the Western Cape’s top schools within a 5km radius. Lizanne Fourie, Pam Golding Properties agent for the area, says one seldom sees homes in these estates go to market. “Vallee Lustre, for example, has had only three sales since 2015, of which the highest price was R13.5 million for a home sold last year.”

These are easily accessible from the estates,” says Fourie. Other attractions in the area include Vriesenhof Vineyards, the Majeka Boutique Hotel and Spa, as well as the spectacular Dylan Lewis Studio and Sculpture Garden. Sports enthusiasts are spoilt for choice and aside from the various trails, the Paradyskloof Tennis Club is also nearby.
