Construction commences on new East Rand high-rise residential development

Ground was broken for the first time at the 10-storey Infinité high-rise residential development in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, in an historic ceremony held on Sunday. The sod-turning ceremony marked the commencement of the construction of the 200-apartment complex, which represents a more than R450 million investment in the area.

The Deputy Consul General of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of South Africa, Mr Song Li, was guest of honour at the ceremony, which was also attended by representatives of the Nedbank and the Bank of China; developers Fatasy Property, conveyancing attorneys Nam-Ford, Pam Golding Properties, which is marketing the Infinité development; and a number of other dignitaries.

Nelson Ferreira, MD of Pam Golding Properties Johannesburg East, says that the units of the sectional title apartment building, which is situated in a prime site on the corner of Nicol and Bradford Roads, were first taken to market off-plan late July 2016.

“Infinité represents a substantial investment in Johannesburg and reflects the immense confidence that Fatasy Property and other investors have in the local residential property market,” adds Ferreira. “Construction of this, the East Rand's most impressive residential development to date, is to be completed by the end of 2018.”

Infinité is the brainchild of respected property developer Baojin Chen, chairman of Fatasy Property, recognised for, amongst others, the successful, 28 666sqm mixed-use development, Crown City in Crown Mines. Infinité, which is located opposite Eastgate shopping centre, is the first 10-storey high-rise residential development project to be launched in the area.

“The superbly appointed apartments have proved immensely popular, with 120 units, having already been purchased,” notes Ferreria.

The development has been designed by AMA Architects, a leading contemporary design firm which has been involved in a spectrum of property developments including a number comprising upmarket residential units in sought-after locations in Johannesburg.

“Infinité includes a swimming pool, clubhouse with kitchen, gym and two meeting rooms, plus a lobby with concierge,” notes Ferreira. “Each unit includes a terrace/balcony and Bosch fridge, freezer, gas hob, electric oven, convection hood, dishwasher, washing machine and quality finishes throughout, as well as Hansgrohe fittings and high ceilings. It also includes 383 secure parking bays over three basement levels catering for tenants and visitors and state-of-the-art, 24/7 security.”

The luxurious and modern design of the building takes its inspiration from the mathematical infinity symbol, with clean, lucid lines and flow with generous use of glass to capitalise on the scenic views and maximise natural light, particularly on the north and south facades.

“Infinité is situated in a thriving hub only 12 minutes from OR Tambo Airport and its Gautrain Station, and close to highways, good schools, restaurants and numerous other amenities, this contemporary design project will set a new benchmark in modern living, catering to a huge demand for secure and convenient sectional title accommodation in the burgeoning and more affordable East Rand,” concludes Ferreira.
