Sunny Cove Manor

For a hundred years, Sunny Cove Manor has stood on the mountain above False Bay providing its residents with matchless views and elegant living. Backed by the mountains of the South Peninsula, the house looks out over the ocean towards the Hottentots Hollands mountains on the opposite shore. Built-in 1919 as a family home and originally named “Aqua Vista”, the house was converted into a guest house in 1997. It was renovated in 2018 to bring it up to date and offers 7 beautifully designed and furnished bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, plus a modern kitchen, a dining room with a spectacular view of the sea, a comfortable lounge with a working fireplace, and a terrace for outdoor entertainment. The house is spacious and airy, with lots of natural light. Two turret rooms have slipper baths as well as large showers. Five rooms face the sea, and the other two look out onto the mountain. The house would make a perfect family residence offering generous working space for a home office. The house retains its original pine floors, which have been polished to a mirror-like finish. The exception is the foyer and staircase, which are floored with kiaat. An extra note of luxury is struck by the luggage lift, which can transport up to 150kgs from ground to upper floor, thus relieving the burden of transporting luggage up the stairs. Behind the Manor is a hiking trail up to Elsie's Peak, which provides exercise and spectacular photographic opportunities. Walk out of the pedestrian gate and cross Simonstown Road to Jaeger's Walk, which runs along the shore to the beach at Fish Hoek. There you can swim, watch the “trek” or seine fishermen, and walk into town. Nearby, Simon's Town and Kalk Bay present their own unique charms. Just beyond Simon's Town is the renowned Penguin Colony at Boulders Beach and the Cape Point Nature Reserve is 20 minutes' drive further south. The Constantia wine route starts just the other side of Ou Kaapse Weg, the M3takes one comfortably into central Cape Town with all its amenities. Cape Town International Airport is only an hour away.
