The home has a historic pedigree and it was listed on the 1982-1985 Danish Architectural School survey of the island. The house has immense five-meter high walls, about one meter thick made from coral stone (lime construction) and a 220m2 total area. Internally the house has original frescoes and detailing that were uncovered during the renovation. The ceilings were fully restored and have exposed wooden beams in impeccable condition (the owners kept the original structure where possible). Arches and wide spatial openings are found throughout the space that allows for excellent airflow and cross-ventilation, atypical of many houses on the island. The various rooms all look inward at an intimate re-converted courtyard. There is a beautiful rooftop that serves the dual purpose of leisure and water collection, and this space is easily accessed through an ample set of stairs directly from the first floor. The current owners, one of whom is an architect, undertook a 3-year full renovation commencing in 2010. Their priority was to preserve all original features of the house and to do so utilizing traditional building methods and local materials. No cement was used, except for waterproofing the roof. The house comes with septic and water tanks. A full plan of home structure is available upon request.
