Overlooking the Indian Ocean and cooled by a gentle breeze, The Dhow House is the perfect location for a carefree escape to the Coast.
Located on the coral cliffs in Kilifi, the Dhow House's spacious interior opens out onto an expansive verandah creating a sense of inside/outside living. Providing a touch of adventure, access to its private beach is through a walk-through tunnel, dug into the coral cliff.
Originally crafted as a family holiday home, The Dhow House retains its comfortable familial feeling with traditional Lamu style seating and a locally crafted dining room table for ten people. Afternoon tea can be enjoyed at "the Folly" while the first floor verandah is ideal for sundowners looking out across the ocean and up to the starlit sky.
With five ensuite bedrooms on both the ground and first floors to choose from - three on the ground floor and two on the first floor - The Dhow House is perfectly designed for guests to have space, still feel connected and appreciate their surroundings.
All stays include daily room service, turn down and laundry. The Dhow House's team include an excellent chef, ready to assist with guests meal requirements.
Committed to minimising their environmental impact, The Dhow House uses solar power to heat water and harvests, stores and repurposes rainwater. Supportive of its local community, The Dhow House was built with locally available materials by artisans in Kilifi and encourages guests to purchase fresh seafood from the local fisherman.
The Dhow House - welcoming, beautifully designed and ideally located.
