EXPERIENCE THE GREAT GATSBY ERA ALL OVER AGAIN

SOLE MANDATE The village of Great Brak River was founded by Charles Searle, an English paper-mill hand who, together with his wife and four children, immigrated to the Cape in 1859. They landed at Mossel Bay following a sea voyage of 68 days. After a few months he was awarded the tender for Keeper of the Toll Bridge at Great Brak River which, at that stage, consisted of a toll- house, a small boarding house called Ferreira's and a farmhouse on the Mossel Bay side of the river. West-Bank was built in 1896 for Charles Searle junior and his wife Mary. The 800 sq meter house has large 11 000 sq meter gardens tended in those days by English gardeners and in 1915 was famous for its orchid collection. This luscious garden bordering the river is still a magnificent retreat with all different kinds of fruit trees. This historic five bed roomed, four bathroom home welcomed Louis Botha as a guest during the Boer war. You will also find three living rooms and two dining rooms. You will, without a doubt, experience the Gatsby era when you step into the house. The fireplaces in the house create a feeling of luxury and pure pleasure. The high decorated steel ceilings will place you in that memorable era that you only saw in movies. The large kitchen opens up to an undercover braai area. The recreation room is actually a full Billiard Room with a 1920 Full Size Thurston Snooker Table and raised seatings. These are all included in the price. This house offer much for anyone. You can have a winter studio and summer studio or winter living areas and summer living areas. This house and its immaculate surroundings are worth a view and a great investment. here you definately have it all.
