Sugarcane, fruit & vegetables

This farm offers numerous opportunities and has been producing sugarcane, litchis and cash crops for many years. The topography is fairly even terrain with gentle slopes to mountainous bushveld. Soils are rich and fertile, of the Hutton type with outcrops of Glen Rosa. The clay percentage is approximately 35%. Boreholes with a total capacity of 272 000 l/h provides water, apart from an allocation for 20 hectares from the Lomati River. Two earth dams with a total capacity 60 750 m³ are used to store water. The climate is warm to hot sub-tropical with an annual rainfall of 700 mm to 850 mm in summer. The average summer day temperatures range from 30°C to 35°C, sometimes rising close to 40°C. The average winter day temperatures fall occasionally below 15°C. The farm offers potential for 81 hectares of macadamias apart from permanent crops currently established. This area could be increased, should the area under sugarcane and litchis be reduced.
