Steeped in History and Perfectly located Boutique Red Wine Estate – Golden Triangle of Stellenbosch

Steeped in history you will find this ± 24 hectare boutique wine farm, situated in what is known as 'The Golden Triangle' of Stellenbosch, a unique patch of land at the foot of the Helderberg Mountain. It is where some of South Africa's best red wines, particularly Shiraz, are grown and made. It's for this reason – and the fact that its vineyards are exclusively planted to red grape varieties. Location, location, location' – alongside the R44, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West, one of several internationally renowned wine estates in the area. The estate lies in the gently sloping Bonte river valley at the base of the Helderberg Mountain. Looking eastwards, your eye is drawn ever upwards to the lofty peaks of the surrounding mountains: from Stellenbosch mountain, to the adjacent Haelkop and in an easterly arc to the Helderberg itself – mountains that turn mauve and purple when the sun sets behind Table Mountain to the west. Vineyards & Cellar ± 16 are under vine with drip irrigation. The vineyards can be found on predominantly south-facing slopes. These slopes vary from being as steep as 20% to almost 0% on the wide alluvial terraces. Terroir based plantings were followed and only red varietals were planted. This is the base for producing top quality, award winning wines: • Malbec, • Petit Verdot, • Shiraz, • Cabernet Franc, • Cabernet Sauvignon, • Merlot, • Roobernet In 2014 - saw the launch of first patented process – no sulphur added wines made according to this breakthrough innovative process. As the crow flies, the estate is 20km from the cool waters of False Bay and lies at between 80m and 120m above sea level. The estate is both registered and authorised by The Wine and Spirit Board as an accredited IPW producer. Winter pruning and additional summer growth limitation means the crop is restricted to between 7 and 8 tons a hectare. Production is between 120 - 130 tons of grapes, translating into roughly 22 000 cases (six bottles) of wine. The major soil types are Estcourt, Tukulu and Dundee / Westleigh. Water: Domestic: Municipal water & 2 boreholes Agri: TWK allocation is 10 Hectares @ 4 000 m3 per hectare = 40 000 m3 The farm's own dam (9 000 m3) (filled by the Bonte River) is used for irrigation and general farm use.
