The original owner sought to replicate certain features of the famous North Wales, UK model village Portmeirion, and began his program in the early ‘70s, employing disparate and contrasting architectural styles in the manner of the Welsh original. They employed a Portuguese project manager with a team of nine skilled artisans to re-equip, re-style, extend, renovate and re-brand the overall look of the estate, a project that took more than 10 years. The Detox Centre was opened with state-of-the-art facilities that include a kitchen and cold room in addition to the detox facilities: ozone pod / mineral bath / FAR infrared / flotation tank / sound room / massage room and doctor's consulting room.
The Detox Centre operates for some 6 months of the year and clients spend 4 to 5 nights in luxurious accommodation on a minimal diet or water fast program. The Alice Estate is unique and its hillside location is absolutely choice, located on a 300 metre concave stretch of the Jukskei River. All buildings are above the 50 year flood line.
