The street food is also very popular and the capital, Port Louis has featured in The Telegraph’s Top 10 Cities for its street food. So popular has it become, that there is even a street food tour of Port Louis, which takes visitors to the best spots. Year-round sunshine makes barbecuing very popular on the island too. Mauritius is not limited to local cuisine however, with a wide choice of international cuisines also available: Japanese, Indian, Italian and even a couple of South African owned restaurants – The Beach House in Grand Baie and Big Willy’s in Tamarin, favourite venues for the South African community.
