Gansbaai, branded as the Natural Adventure Destination, is a two-hour drive south of Cape Town and the perfect destination for the active nature lover. Whilst world renowned as the Mecca for Great White Sharks, Gansbaai is also home to the Marine Big 5 and a large variety of Endemic, Migrant and Pelagic bird life. Southern Right whales are abundant here in the winter months.

Gansbaai is blessed with floral abundance, half an hour’s drive into the countryside past Hermanus on the R43 and offers a famous botanical landscape with some of the rarest plant species in the world, surrounded by mountains, white beaches and rocky shorelines, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean famous for the Great White Shark and the Southern Right Whale. Gansbaai is known as the "Big-2-Town”, and lies between the mountains and the sea. The recently tarred road between Gansbaai and Bredasdorp opens the area to the Garden route via the R43.

Gansbaai won the African Gold Award for Responsible Tourism at the World Travel Market in Cape Town in 2015.

Caged-Shark-diving is one of the many main attractions for visitors to our town. A typical white shark diving excursion takes between 3-5 hours, depending on the weather, sea conditions and shark behaviour. Trips depart from Kleinbaai harbour and anchor site depends on the sea conditions, weather and previous shark sightings. There is the option of surface viewing or entering the water in a secure cage. FYNBOS FESTIVAL

Gansbaai does not have a “Kreef Derby” anymore, nor does it have a “Fees van die Gaanse”. However, it has something far more exciting than either of these in September. It is a family oriented festival called The Funky Fynbos Festival, with its hub at De Uijlenes in the Uilkraals Valley.

The Funky Fynbos Festival is on 18/19/20 September and includes 4X4 at Strandskloof Caravan park, where there is a permanent obstacle course open to the public, fresh water fishing competitions at Lomond and sea fishing, a golf competition, 3 Mountain Bike races on Saturday and 3 Trail Runs on Sunday.

This year there will be an U19 Rugby Festival on Saturday and activities like fish braais with live entertainment in the Gansbaai Harbour. There is live entertainment and artisanal food at all of the venues that are hosting activities and there are pop up restaurants at some of the venues.

This is a not to be missed Festival for the whole family, Please ask all of the agents to tell their friends and families and to be there to support the event.
