While the housing market
remains constrained, the recent decision
by the Monetary Policy Committee to
keep the repo rate steady was welcome
as South Africa’s economic recovery
remains fragile. From a Pam Golding
Properties perspective recent activity
indicates a gradual upward trend both
in regard to the number of units sold,
as well as pricing.
There is a cautiously optimistic outlook
for the next 6-9 month period as the
market appears to have overcome the
worst, with the result that there
are opportunities for trading conditions
to improve, albeit gradually.
In this newsletter we note the rapidly
growing trend towards a ‘new
urban’ lifestyle
within vibrant new growth nodes, which
offer a convenient and highly appealing
‘live, work, play’ environment.
For those seeking to relocate from
city life to a more relaxing, outdoor
way of life – while still retaining
busy careers – Knysna
on the Garden Route is
fostering an increasingly vibrant
business sector, attracting an increasing
number of entrepreneurs running highly
successful businesses in the town.

Further demonstrating consumer demand for tranquil
locations in which to enjoy quality family time
and leisure activities, at the exclusive, ‘Utopia’
estate on the Vaal
River, two of the four luxury mansions
have been snapped up by local buyers desiring
a more balanced lifestyle.
From a residential development perspective, sectional
title complexes, which are in prime locations
and offer sound investment potential, remain sought
after among investors, such as The
Avenues in Fresnaye on the Western
Cape’s Atlantic Seaboard. |
