With the first quarter
behind us, it seems improbable that
the year will deliver dramatic growth
but there are many positive signs
that South Africa’s economy
remains resilient and is experiencing
a steady albeit gradual improvement–
a trend echoed by the residential
property market.
From a housing perspective we continue
to see indications of investors and
developers re-emerging – with
sound rental returns being achieved
in prime, popular locations, while
those with high cash liquidity are
in a good negotiating position, choosing
from a wide selection of properties.
In this newsletter we provide useful
tips
for first time home buyers,
eager to own their own homes and also
gain a foothold in the residential
property market - increasingly recognised
as a sound asset class.
We visit the Klein
Karoo’s charming town of Ladismith,
a village, which typifies the high
appeal of the Karoo with its quaint
character homes, wide open spaces
and tranquil lifestyle envied by city
dwellers. |

We also look at the Western Cape and the Cape
Town metropolitan area in particular where well-established,
apparently recession-proof areas continue to offer
home owners extremely sound return on investment.
This includes the world-renowned V&A
Waterfront, where good value for
money is available.
Good news for this region is that further to the
announcement of significant expansion for the
Cape Town International Convention Centre along
with a larger Cape Town urban regeneration project,
the city is to see the establishment of a World
Trade Centre, which will make a major contribution
to economic growth in the region. |
