Gondwana - Nature reserve
A bush experience that is accessible yet secluded
Imagine co-existing with herds of wildlife in a vast and beautiful place called Gondwana Game Reserve. The first of its kind in the Western Cape, Gondwana offers the chance to own a bush home in over 10 000 hectares of undulating valleys covered in Fynbos and grass plains protected by the Outeniqua Mountains to the north. Only a few will be able to share in this wild and remote experience.

The Game Reserve

Gondwana Game Reserve is situated in the Garden Route 20 minutes from the center of Mossel Bay and its beaches and golf courses. It is a mere 3 hours drive from Cape Town and 40 minutes from George International Airport. Despite this great location and accessibility, the reserve is secluded and remote giving a feeling of being in the middle of nowhere. It shares the areas' renowned temperate climate, second in the world to Hawaii's, and is Malaria free, offering prime year round game viewing.

Wildlife

Gondwana Game Reserve will be inhabited by all indigenous wildlife that occurred in the Western Cape. The vastness of the property, 10 000 hectares, coupled with the areas' climate and terrain make the land well suited for multiple species of game, allowing for more wildlife than many of the drier bush areas in Southern Africa. This will greatly facilitate game viewing, as it will be abundant and frequently seen.

Vegetation and Terrain

Gondwana Game Reserve has a unique combination of Fynbos and grass plains. Fynbos, the primary vegetation on the reserve, is endemic to the Western Cape region and exists nowhere else in the world, drawing unique birdlife and mammals. An abundance of Protea and other wildflowers provide year round enjoyment and colour.

There are gorgeous deep valleys, ravines, hills, mountains and open plain areas, providing excellent terrain for driving and guided walking safaris. Numerous fountains, streams and dams allow for spectacular settings for viewing hides. The Outeniqua and Langeberg Mountain Ranges overlook the reserve from the North, East, and West providing spectacular backdrops for your wildlife photography and sunset views. The Indian Ocean can also be seen from certain elevated areas on the reserve.

Gondana

GondwanaGondwana

Our name derives itself from Gondwana Land, the land mass that existed one hundred and twenty million years ago. The Outeniqua and Langeberg Mountains that the reserve looks upon are the last visible evidence of the former Gondwana Land after the continent split to how we know it today.
