Natural beauty and green scenery

You will find a magnificent 160-hectaure lake nestling at the end of a vast hilly area surrounded by two picturesque villages and, on one bank, the Ailette golf course, which completes the picture. The Parc de l'Ailette, which is listed as a natural reserve, has an ever-increasing population of migratory and indigenous birds. This ideal site has a natural element as its central focus: the water will both inspire contemplation and be used for a host of activities. The forest also has an important role and will be the perfect setting for the new Pierre & Vacances cottages.
Close to major urban centres, this site has extraordinary potential for tourism, with very good motorway access from Paris , the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, Benelux and Britain , which will be completed by the construction of a high-speed railway station in Rheims .

Architecture and Style
The natural beauty of the site demanded an ambitious architectural project.
Pierre & Vacances has decided to commission Pierre Diener to design it. His main aim is to come up with elegant designs that will fit in and harmonise with the exceptional setting formed by the water and the forest: a fusion of housing and nature that revives the tradition of lakeside and woodland architecture. The cottages in Domaine du Lac de l'Ailette will have the traditional architectural features of each region, including the materials and colours of the Aisne, tiles, bricks and wood, plus some typical features such as the gables characteristic of villages in the Soissons region. The main characteristic of these cottages is that they combine openness to the light of the lake and the woods, with the intimacy of their comfortable interiors. The private wooden terraces offer wonderful views of the lake or forest.
Each type of cottage has its own personality: interplay of the façades, material colours, arrangement of the interiors, decoration and ambience.
