Introduction to Rustenburg

Rustenburg is Paul Kruger’s “home town”, here long before Pretroria existed; the Volksraad had its meetings. Even the site of Johannesburg, 35 years younger, once belonged to the Rustenburg District! South Africa’s great tobacco and citrus industries and much of its cotton growing largely started in Rustenburg. To-day Rustenburg is just as noteworthy – with its Chrome Industry and even more it’s Platinum Mines, the largest in the world. To say nothing of the towns rise as a tourist resort with many attractions, ideally situated as a halfway house to many pristine tourist destinations.
